History of the World Environment Summit
Toward achieving the SDGs
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the international goals for the period from 2016 to 2030, which were stated in the "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" adopted at the UN Summit on September 2015 as the successor to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) formulated in 2001.
The SDGs are a universal set of goals that every country on the planet, from developing to developed, can work towards, and Japan is actively working towards them.
History of the World Environment Summit
In April 2020, the World Environment Summit was born.
The World Environmental Summit Executive Committee was formed by companies, organizations, and individuals who were concerned that the flow of people, goods, and things had stopped.
As people were forced to refrain from going out, we decided to hold the summit online in the hope that it would promote corporate PR and connections among organizations. At the time, we had no idea what ZOOM was or how to operate it, but as it turned out, many people watched it and we were able to close the event successfully.
In April 2020, when the first event was held, there were almost no online events in Japan. At that time, this summit was one of the most advanced online events in the world. The 2nd World Environment Summit was held in the International Conference Room of the First House of Representatives to create opportunities for presentations in real life.
Not only did we have ambassadors and members of the Diet attend, but we were also able to use the latest technology.
The third session was held at the First Legislative Hall of the House of Representatives, following the second session. The long year of having three events in one year by famous people has come to an end.
It has been a year of rushing through. The Executive Committee would like to thank all of you for your support and cooperation.
